This is my 2nd Kodiak Flex-Bow. I also have the 10 x 14 Flex-Bow VX, which was my 1st canvas tent & my retirement gift to myself. I got this one as it has a smaller footprint to be able to fit into more campsites. I find the quality to be unsurpassed & am very pleased with both tents. They hold up very well in the wind (30 mph with 40+ gusts). It's like you're in a one-room cabin. One-person set-up is easy. Looking forward to many years of use! I don't feel you can wrong owning one of these. Worth the wait
Been camping for almost 50 years. Best tent I've ever had. Not bad to set up (I will use a drill and lag bolts) and the telescopic side poles really help raise the roof. the floor does "stink" - strong vinyl odor - that will hopefully go away with use. I've had the tent set up in the back yard to 'season' and air it out - it still has a strong vinyl odor. Overall - my initial review is 5 stars. We'll see how it does in the coming years. **** Thanks for your honest review. That "New Car/Tent" smell will go away. You can set up on a sunny day and open the doors to help speed the process. KC
Once my flex- bow arrived I took it on a 2 week camping trip to northern CA. during an excessive heat wave ! This tent is easy to setup, really only took about 10 minutes by myself to set up and about the same to break it down . the tent breaths well much better than previous nylon tents I have owned . sturdy zippers are nice and the canopy actually came in handy one evening when we had some light rain showers .
Absolutely love this tent! Easy for 1 person to set up. Plenty of room for my cot, gear and 2 large dogs. First time out we got a huge rainstorm. We stayed nice and dry inside. Best money I ever spent on a tent (and I have several.)
I struggled getting my T-posts shoved together. I even tried wetting the canvas and pulling on either side with tie-downs hooked to my 4-wheeler and my car. I nearly knocked out my teeth and nearly broke my glasses trying to push the t-posts together after they came flying up and hit me in the face. Mow my t-posts are bent and the piece that slides over the two ends to keep the t-posts has to be hammered in place. Plus one of the caps.covering the end of one of the stretch bars is cracked and won’t stay on. This was my first time actually using the tent. I’m a bit discouraged and would like the t-bar replaces and new rubber caps for the stretch bars that attach to the t-bar. **** Sally. Thanks for your review. This does not sound normal. Received my new tent just in time for the Memorial Day weekend. I could not be happier! This tent is everything I hoped it would be! Perfect size for me and my pups and super easy for a solo camper to put up alone.
I was impressed by how warm it was inside the tent, camping when it was 19 degrees out with snow on the ground. I have a good sleeping bag, and I ended up taking out the fleece liner because I was HOT. Love it.
Indeed it was a very roomy well satisfied !
This tent (the 9x8) is hands down the best tent for a single person. I am 6'3" and feel that I have ample amounts of room when by myself. It fits my XL Cot, my buddy heater, a small table, a suitcase/duffle bag, and trash bag for dirty clothes and I don't feel cramped whatsoever. I can also store stuff under the cot. I used it for my hunt camp in December 2020 and my that hunt was 12 days long and I stayed in this tent for all 12 days. It snowed about 2 inches on one day and then rained for two days after that and that rain turned to ice real quick. The tent held up amazingly well. No leaks, no crumbling under the weight of the snow and ice, no issues whatsoever. I have had probably 12 different tents over the last 20 years and this one is by far my favorite. This tent is heavy. I would only use it as a basecamp and keep my bivy/backpacking tent for mobile operations. I am going to buy the 10x14 size for when I take my wife and dogs on camp trips. These tents are worth every penny for sure.
