Today marks Day 9 Living in my Kodiak tent on my Off Grid property. It has been cold, as cold as 14 degrees, with ice in the morning. The tent has been performing SO GREAT! The stove jack is in a great location and is so easy to setup and use. I am staying nice and toasty. Also the built in floor is super durable! I learned my lesson the hard way with the stove and didn't put down a fireproof mat that was big enough. Oops, but I was able to swipe most of the embers away before burning a hole in the floor, its super durable! The YKK zippers are a delight to use and I love the white roof of this tent. It lets a lot of light in, but not too much so you could still sleep in if you've had a long day. This is home for me right now, and I couldn't be happier!
Awesome tent, wish I woulda bought the wood burning stove with it. Our heater buddy wont keep lit above 9800'. Easy enough for one person to set up. Do Not Attempt the Awning with less than 2 people lol
Kodiak Canvas is absolutely the best there is. I recently had to file a warranty claim and the folks at Kodiak Canvas were more than willing to help me out. They went above and beyond what a company normally does and for that they have me as a customer for life. Thank you Kodiak Canvas! I love my 12x12 and awning!
Me and my sons put this together for the first time in the field. It was windy and our first go at it. It took us about an hour. Some of our issue was that we were on rocky ground. The quality was top notch. The stakes, poles, and canvas all seemed high grade. The pole bag was damaged on delivery but I feel that was in shipment and not from Kodiak. With 40 mph winds and 12 hours of rain and hail at one point, the tent worked perfectly. It stayed strong and dry inside. Take down was a breeze. I was able to put the tent in the storage bag that came with the tent. I was worried that it would not fit because it did not come in the storage bag new. Even with the week of elements, it looked new when we put it up. We look forward to years of enjoyment from the tent.
Only complaint is the top over the stove is white and any ash tends to get it extra dirty. Have not tried to clean yet. Be nice to have a couple of extra hooks to hang things and to have a power entrance for a plug in case you are near an outlet. Overall very nice quality and happy with the tent so far.
I have this tent and love it. Have slept 4 adults with disco cots and a stove and still had plenty of room. I also have the awning and use that as a cook shack. This tent is amazing!
Pretty amazing tent. Setup took a couple hours but I was talking my time. Only thing that could use an adjustment would be the flap at the bottom of the stove pipe. I'm gonna get velcro to put in there to help bugs out. Other than that it's everything I want
We bought this tent for our Outfitting services and This is one of our favorite wall tents, let’s start with set up, I you can set this tent up with one person but is a breeze with two people and takes about 25-30 minutes.
So far after back yard camping for the kids it seems like good quality canvass however, I received a busted pole bag that was of poor quality construction/ material to the point that the poles were poking through it upon opening the box. I sent a photo to the rep that texted me about my address when I purchased it and heard nothing back . I also had a small chip in the floor. Prior to set up I checked the ground and it in the grass, used the kodiack ground tarp that I bought separately plus used moving blankets inside because there are no 12 x12 internal tarps for sale on the website. (The rest of the sizes were covered except the 12x12). So not sure why the floor had damage to be honest not like I placed it in rocky terrain and being negligent in ensuring I checked the ground prior to set up . It was on grass with a ground tarp along with internal covers. In my experience so far for the price I am not sure that a GP small with no floor cover that comes with canvas bags for tent poles that are better quality would possibly meet the need as well if not better. Also, not having a floor vs a floor can go either way but in my initial was I wasn’t happy to see a mark of damage on the first time out. Not bashing it just thoughts from initial impressions from a guy that has used a lot of large tents with no floor in field conditions that were way worse terrain and weather.
