I very rarely take the time to write reviews, and when I do, it is only after thoroughly getting to know the product in question. My wife and I bought a Kodiak 10x10 Flexbow tent in the spring of 2016. We spend as many weekends (and sometimes weeks) as we possibly can in the woods. We are not huge hikers, but we prefer to be as far away from other people as we can be on our excursions; to this end a tent thrown in the back of the 4X4 is way more advantageous than any form of "camper". Living in Idaho, and not cutting our trips to a few short "summer" months meant a sturdy, most-seasons, tent was what we needed. We have used this thing dozens and dozens of times, in wind, rain, hail, and even light snow, and I honestly do not think there has been a single trip where we have not, at some point, looked at each other and said "I LOVE this tent!" We've had it in winds over 50 mph and were not bothered with worries. We've had in torrential rains and nothing inside has ever gotten wet. I have never had ANY other tent I can say either of those things about. Highly recommend both, the full windows option, and the vestibule. Set up is easier than you would think it would be, and I use a 3 pound sledge for the stakes, which will penetrate dang near anything!
WE LOVE THIS TENT!!
We have now been using our replacement tent for 8 weeks. It is great. No leaks. No flaws. Customer service was excellent, and very understanding regarding our impending camping trip. Thank you Kodiak Canvas!
After a lot of deliberation, I convinced the wife it was time we bought ourselves a bigger and more durable tent this year and WE BOTH are very happy we did so. The very first two nights we used this tent we dealt with thunderstorms and downpours. The tent performed beautifully! We cannot wait for our next adventure!
I took my family camping about a week after our tent showed up. While we were out a rain storm came in and poured on us. Even when it came to my high end back packing tents I've never had a tent that kept my gear dry when raining like that. When we woke up the next day we were completely dry. The only thing I will recomend is if you have to put the second set of Grommets in your awning make sure you reinforce that spot before doing so. The rain storm drip so much rain that the weight of the water ripped out our grommets and now we are reinforcing those areas and will be redoing them.
Thanks for the review. During rain lower a corner of the awning by slanting a pole as per the instructions or it will pool as you experienced.
We've had this tent through just two types of camping trips and it has proven to be possibly one of the greatest investments we've ever made. The first trip was to a 5-day festival where it was hot during the day but also stormed cats and dogs on the second night. The tent stayed cool and well-ventilated through the warm days. When it rained we were nervous about the strong the winds and amount of rain but the tent didn't budge one bit and stayed completely dry. We also discovered that the VIP 'glamping' area used exclusively Kodiak tents! Our second trip was a week ago to camp in a nearby mountain that we like to hike. When we got there we discovered it was probably bug mating season because they were everywhere, which was not what we had yet experienced. There were giant flies buzzing around us as we set up in the afternoon, then mosquitos came out at dusk. We ended up bringing our two-person camp chair inside and spending the entire trip in the refuge of the tent because it was so unpleasant outside. And it was awesome. The four sides of windows let us still feel like we were outside, letting in the breeze and the views around us. We agreed that the tent saved the trip!
The tent fit our double wide camp mattress, our camp chair sofa, and all our stuff while still having enough room to stand in. We could easily fit another two people. Sean is 6'-5" and can comfortably stand inside. The set up and tear down is so easy after you've done it once, and this tent makes us look forward to camping more. Thanks for making an amazing product!
I have not taken this tent camping yet, but I have set it up and "seasoned" it. This tent went together faster than any other tent I have put up before. I highly recommend it to anyone.
Before I bought my Flex Bow VX, I had a $97 Eureka brand tent. On the first use, a strong wind came up and the tent poles snapped beyond repair, so I was looking for sturdier shelter options. A friend suggested I check out Kodiak Canvas, and a love affair began. I am now a huge ambassador for this company, and tell everyone about my new Flex Bow VX tent. Not that it’s necessary — the tent speaks for itself. I recently went to a campout and my tent held up superbly in the strong winds, which caught the attention of my campground neighbors and soon I was telling them all about Kodiak Canvas. I also had two nights of rain on a recent camping trip and we stayed nice and dry inside. On hot days the ventilation from the six windows is divine. Friends of mine have lovingly referred to my tent as my bomb shelter because of its high quality construction. I very much recommend this tent and this company!
Our tent was delivered August 31 last year. We had it up for about a month. Set it up again on May 18. (We sleep in it on weekends in our back yard.) Followed the wetting instructions and had very few problems with leaking. However, this morning as I was admiring the contruction of the tent, I noticed unusually bright light coming through the bottom seam near the D-ring where the pole goes. Upon closer inspection, found that the wall canvas tore, or was not properly sewn into the binding in the first place. There is an opening approximately 1" long at this point, but I expect it to turn into a bigger opening, as it is at a stress point. Already saw an ant come through the opening. Help?

Glad it has 6 windows especially in Texas, lotsa room, solid build, lite, quick setup, bought 8" screws and use impact driver for fast tac down (hardest part). Also painters pole with PVC pipe extending to raise awning works nice, also indoor/outdoor carpet for inside and outside, best against wind.
