The 12 X 9 Cabin tent felt a little smaller then we expected, so we bought this wall enclosure. We were hoping to have more dry space on rainy days. Unfortunately, it turns out that this wall enclosure is hardly water resistant. While we weren’t expecting the enclosure to be made from the top-notch material the tent is made out of, we were expecting it to be water resistant, and we were disappointed.
We also tried to use this enclosure as a sunshade, but the enclosure does not breath well. The area under the awning is much warmer with the enclosure on. If the sides of the enclosure rolled up easily, we would have been happy using one side of the enclosure as a sun shield while rolling up the other side for ventilation. Sadly, the sides don't easily roll up. As a result, the enclosure is frustratingly difficult to use in the heat.
Finally, there was no clearly designed place to hang the additional mesh bag and pocket organizer included. I know this is a small thing, but once it rained and it was clear that the wall enclosure was not dry, it would have been really nice to be able to hang things easily.
I recently purchased both the 12x9 Cabin Tent and the wall enclosure.
After sitting the tent up and extending the awning, I soon realized I need the extra space for gear, so I added the wall enclosure.
I was a little bummed as the color has changed, and is not the tan shown in the picture. It is the green of the accent color. This changes the look of the tent.
However the space you get is the reason for getting this, all you have to do is get a tarp or some covering to put down and you have a comfortable place to play cards on a rainy day, or store gear.
Set up is easy and the tent has a built in velcro strip to attach at that point and the enclosure hangs from the awning poles with attached velcro straps.
My only ideas to improve this would be to put velcro around the edges of the awning to attach the enclosure to make a secure seal.
After 20 yeas of camping with light weight nylon tents we decided to upgrade. We purchased the 12 x 9 cabin tent with wall enclosure so we could have the option of an extra room for our 14 year old son or the screened in porch. We camped for three night in the Rocky Mountain National Park in extremely windy conditions and the tent held up great, even though we though we were going to blow away, as several tents did. We also received one big downpour and the tent remained water tight.
We've only camped once so far but we are extremely happy with our purchase and are looking forward to many years of camping with this tent!
