Born in the Australian Outback, the Kodiak Canvas Swag tent is a highly versatile, one-person, portable, sleep system. It is an advanced evolution of the traditional bedroll. Add a blanket or sleeping bag, and you have all you need to bed down. Unroll and set it up in a matter of minutes. It is six feet eight inches long and nearly three feet wide, providing a roomy sleeping space even for big guys. Use it on the ground, in the bed of a pickup, or with a compatible cot.*
It’s made with premium-grade, Hydra-Shield™, 100% cotton duck canvas. The tight weave and silicone finish make the canvas watertight yet breathable, minimizing condensation and mugginess. Unlike canvas tents of years past, our canvas will not wick water. Watertight and breathable, means you stay more comfortable. Aluminum alloy poles provide sturdy structure. The floor is a heavy-duty, puncture resistant, 16 oz vinyl that keeps water out. Unzip screened windows in the head and foot for air flow. These windows have small awnings over them so they can be opened even when it’s raining. When weather permits, roll the top cover back, and it’s like sleeping under the stars. The screen mesh keeps the bugs and critters out. Included is a 2-inch thick, open-cell, polyurethane foam mattress pad. The pad has a removable flannel cover that can be washed. When it’s time to move, the Swag packs up in no time—mattress pad, sleeping bag (sold separately), blankets and all. Everything is neatly rolled and ready for the next stop. When adventure calls, grab your swag and go.

I had my eye on one of these for a while and I am really glad I got one. The material is of excellent quality, setup is a breeze and the tent is just genius.
I use it for overlanding trips and you could not ask for a more simple design and set up.
I think that it is unfair to compare this tent to other designs, yes it is bulkier and only sleeps one but that is what it was designed for and it does it very well.

Was looking for a compact tent to take camping with me and be able to set up in my truck bed. This tent fit the bill, set up and take down is about 5 minutes and it fits perfect in my compact truck bed with the tailgate down. Great for when the bugs are out or the weather may turn bad. Love the waterproof canvas as it means no rainfly to fiddle with.
4 stars only because for my purposes (mostly truck bed use) I'd love it if it was free standing. There are grommets well placed to allow for one more pole to achieve this. If Kodiak Canvas ever sells that pole then I'll buy it and this'll be a 5 star tent in my book.
Turk: Thanks for the review. The pole you are referring to is available and is sold as an accessory. Look for the twist lock tension pole part number 100260.

After seeing this tent for sale, I knew I had to give it a try. Being a big guy, the size of this 1 person tent really caught my eye. I figured I had to try it out.
Shipping was super fast. The tent came packaged in the shipping box inside a vacuum sealed bag.
It was very easy to set up, even the 1st time. There are 3 poles that hold the tent up. Each set a slightly different size with the largest sliding into place by the head. Once you pop it up the 1st time, set up and take down is very quick and easy. I can pop this swag tent up effortlessly in under a few minutes.
The highlight for me of this tent is the quality. The matress is the main reason for this and it sure beats lugging out matress pads or foam pads if you really want a comfortable night outdide. This matress is super comfortable and stays in the tent and is rolled up with it for storage. The tent has straps that lash down to make set up, take down and storage a breeze. It is definitely waterproof with quality material and ventilation is perfect even with bag zipped up with the window vent by your head.
The only draw back to this tent is its size. This is not the tent for backpacking or if you are trying to get deep off the trail. It you are setting up in campgrounds or spots near your car, or boat, then it isn't a concern. It would just be hard to haul for a long ways due to its size.it also is a struggle to get it into the carry bag provided. Once it is set up for the 1st time, even with it rolled up as small and tight as possible, you probably will need a different carry bag or just to go without one.
All in all I am super pleased with this tent and it is exactly as described. It seems and has been very durable so far and I would definitely buy recommend if you want a comfortable night camping!!

I love the Swag as for camping. It does everything I expected. I slept out in the rain with it the first day I received it, which by the way was very fast shipping. I slept comfortably and dry. I even had the head end ventilation about three quarters opened and no rain came in on me. I am 6'2 and had all of the room I needed. The only design change I would like to see would be to make it similar to some of the Australian models with the top spine to eliminate the middle pole. This would make it much easier for egress and degrees as well as free standing. My only complaint, and this has been one with almost every tent product know to mankind, is utilizing the the storage bag. I have rolled mine up so many times until I was blue in the face. After the tenth time I finally just accepted the fact that I have a light weight duffle bag for something else, because there is no way in God's green earth I am going to get that swag into that storage bag.

It's great to finally find a Australian Swag here the USA. I wanted one ever since seeing it on one of the Ray Mears shows. it's relatively unknown here, but what a great idea - a one person tent-bedroll combo that even has a mattress pad. Just unroll and put in some poles and you're done.
I was surprised to see this swag arrive at my house so quickly. So many items like these are made to order, but this arrived in about 5 days.
There are 3 different sized curved tent poles so you have to put them all together first in order to which is which size, the biggest at the head and small as you go to the feet. the middle on goes on the inside.
I set this swag up in my house to air out (slight plastic smell which went away the next day) and to see how it looked. I slept in it and found it very comfortable. in fact, I've been sleeping in it over a week now on the floor, leaving my wife with our Temperpedic bed.
I also slept out in the back of the property once, so far, and was just as comfy outside. The mesh keeps out all the bugs and still keeps in a lot of heat while allowing ventilation.
*pricey - but not compared to a quality canvas bedroll or tent, or ordering from Australia
*not for backpacking, rolled this is about 3ft long by about a foot and not super heavy but not light either.
*VERY roomy inside (I am 6' 1", 200 lbs and I have room to completely turn around so my head is at the feet)
*natural outdoor colors
*built in long tie straps
*hand storage pocket on either side
*durable 8oz canvas
*removable flannel mattress cover. I love flannel sheets
*noticeable very well made with quality materials
*plastic tarp-like material on the bottom to keep you dry
*if you were sleeping with only the mesh closed and it started to rain you have to unzip the mesh to get to the canvas cover on the outside and then close them both.
*there is no top spine; the end ties need to be tied to something in order to stand upright
*I would like to see a little thicker canvas, but this would of course add weight
Overall, this thing rocks? It is light enough that you could carry it if you had to but still durable to last. I am so glad I found it and bought it. I highly recommend this swag to anyone looking for a one person tent.
